When I come across books, videos and articles claiming how important marketing alone or management or the leadership and culture, it can upset me on how the important people in the right domain preaching and misguiding their readers towards the end of their entrepreneurship journey.
Business as a whole consisting of different parts serves the customer. You can never trade your leg for a hand. Both are equally important.
Management, production, marketing, customer service, research and every single part of the organization serves it's own purpose but for a unified vision and mission.
Apple is successful because of it's brand you may claim but imagine if the brand is slapped on an iPhone that is poorly manufactured with a slow software and an awful customer service. That brand will die faster than a start-up.
Never take any part of your business for granted. Every single of it is important to fulfill your company's vision and don't fall for the dark side of only marketing matters or customer service matters sermon.
Two examples would be Amazon for a big corporation. Their focus is on customers but they are focused on every single departments to serve the purpose because only when all the parts operates well, the customers gets to be served well. Another example for small businesses would be Michael E. Gerber. He is doing a great service to small business owners by educating on the importance of having the right people in the right place such as the manager and the technician to operate the business flawlessly. He never asked them to sacrifice any of it.
Focus on your business as a whole by giving every single attention to the smallest parts of your organization.
Think Small
